Follow the Star is a ministry of the Gladstone Park Seventh-day Adventist Church. We want this website to be a safe, welcoming place for families and children, so we collect as little as we can.
What we measure
We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use the site, so we can make it better. It tells us things like:
- which pages are visited, and for how long
- how visitors arrived: a search, a link on social media, a QR code, or typing our address
- the kind of device and browser, and the approximate area (city or region), never an exact location
- on The Journey, which nights are watched and what visitors enjoy: finding Pip, picking things up in the sand, talking to the wise men, turning the sound on
Google Analytics does not give us your name, email address or anything that identifies you personally, and we don't try to find out who you are. Google Analytics uses cookies to tell one visit from the next. We have turned off Google's advertising features, and we never sell or share this information.
The Journey on your device
The Journey remembers, on your own device only, the nights you've found Pip and the things you've picked up, so your tally is still there when you come back. This stays in your browser and is never sent to us. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.
Tickets and volunteering
Tickets are handled by Zeffy, and volunteer sign-up by Church Center. When you use them, the information you give goes to them under their own privacy policies.
Children
The Journey is made for children to enjoy with their families. It asks for no sign-up and no personal details, and nothing a child does on it identifies them.
Your choices
- Block or delete cookies in your browser's settings; the site still works.
- Install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on to turn off Google Analytics everywhere.
